my fear of books

Does this image make you feel weak at the knees?

I just don't read nearly enough. I would like to, but as it's something I'm not very good at I don't make it a priority. This is in complete contrast to my partner who loves to read and devours books. In just a few days the book that was started by the bed will be finished in the living room, while I have read nothing at all in the same time.

If I overcome my fear there is no doubt that my reading will improve, I just have to pick up a book from time to time. So from now on I am adding to my brain workout schedule, reading. To start just a chapter of any book once a week, that may not sound like a lot but over a year that's two or three books and I haven't managed that for a long time.

Add reading to your schedule and see how you get on. Do it on the bus, before bed or instead of watching that cooking show, and together we will get through three books this year. Pick subjects you are interested in and you never know you may find reading can be enjoyable.

  1. Angus,

I just posted an article about fear of reading / literacy vis à vis the movie, "The Reader." http://avko.blogspot.com/2009/04/lessons-from-movie-reader.html

I really enjoy your blog. I just tweeted your post with the Kenny Logan vid.
